Catherine "Cathy" Elizabeth McKinley

The passing of Catherine "Cathy" Elizabeth McKinley, wife of Daniel E. McKinley of Pennfield NB occurred unexpectedly at their residence on June 20, 2024. Born in Blacks Harbour NB on November 22, 1962, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Evangeline (Legacy) Higgins. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece and friend, in addition to her husband Danny, Cathy is survived by her son: Bryan McKinley of Pennfield NB; granddaughter: Victoria Greencorn of St. Stephen NB; sisters: Susan (Roswell) Hall of St. George NB, Maggie Hanley of Pennfield NB, Marilyn Blanchard also of Pennfield NB and Aldena Higgins-Harris (Dennis) of Blacks Harbour NB; brother: Jim (Marci) Higgins of St. Stephen NB; uncles: Stephen (Carol) Higgins of St. Stephen NB, Gussie Legacy of Alberta, Danny Legacy of St. Stephen NB; aunts: Theresa Deveau and Martha (Andy) Ross both of St. Stephen NB; and many cousins and friends. Besides her parents, Cathy was predeceased by one niece, Dawna Blanchard; brothers-in-law: Farren Hanley and Rickey Blanchard.

Prior to illness, Cathy worked many years in the packing room at Connors Brothers. She had a love of the outdoors and enjoyed gardening. She had a special knack for photography and took beautiful images of flowers and nature. In her spare time, Cathy loved driving around looking for the special treasure to take home. She truly loved her family and loved being in the company of her granddaughter. Her love and devotion to her family will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Resting at the funeral home with visiting on Sunday from 5-8 pm. The service will take place from the Christ Church (Anglican), Pennfield NB on Monday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Canon Caleb Twinamatsiko officiating followed by the interment in Pennfield Rural Cemetery. In Cathy’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
